Black Walnut Bakery Café

This week, guest blogger Rachelle Provost from Simply Busy talks about her favourite local cafe and shares some of her menu favourites.

Ever heard of Black Walnut Bakery Café and Roastery? You’ll hear the hiss of a coffee machine, the tink of spoons and hum of voices behind you. Black Walnut Bakery Café & Roastery, located on the corner of Richmond and Piccadilly, is bound to be your new favourite spot. The café is open conveniently early for your drive to work.  It’s perfect spot for your next coffee meeting or sit-down spot to study on a Sunday afternoon. Not downtown? Black Walnut also has a location in Wortley village.

Decorated with large paned windows, white walls and dark brown wooden furniture, the café has a relaxed, welcoming vibe from the moment you walk in. The café also offers a variety of seating options with benched seating, tables and a longer table in the back. Every time I visit Black Walnut, I am amazed by their phenomenal customer service, always leaving happy and satisfied.

Brightly coloured black boards hang above the barista area offering a daily menu, entrees, blends of coffee and hot drinks. A glass display showcases an assortment of pastries and cookies to tempt your sweet tooth. I recommend going in with an idea of what you want or asking a barista to help narrow down your choices.

  • Chili

The downside? If you’re on a student budget, Black Walnut is expensive. The flip side is they offer tasty food and quality coffee that outperforms large coffee chains every time I visit.
